Overview

The Determined Biblical & Theological Institute of Baltimore, Maryland was founded in 1996 and is the result of the vision of founder and president, Dr. Harold A. Carter. The essence of this vision was to secure the best available biblical and theological scholars who would share their wealth of knowledge and experience in an academic environment. The unique philosophy of the Institute would be that interested students would need only a high school diploma (or the equivalent, thereof) and that the student-body would be comprised of laity and clergy, alike.

It is therefore common place to find a student with an advanced degree in a class sitting next to another student with one year of college, all being nurtured by a professional staff.

In nine years the Institute has grown from thirty-eight students during the first semester to better than one hundred students attending each semester. Presently, the Institute offers a three year Certificate of Accomplishment meaning that the student has met the necessary requirements of 36 credit-hours (26 of which are required). In May of 2000, the Institute held its first Commencement, and during which two honorary doctorate degrees were given (Doctor of Humane Letters & Doctor of Divinity).
