Our First Lady

Rev. Monique Carter is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. She was called by God into the gospel ministry several years ago.  She delivered her initial sermon in August 2003 and was ordained in 2015 at the New Shiloh Baptist Church, Baltimore, Maryland. Rev. Carter received the Doctor of Humane Letter from The Determined Biblical & Theological Institute of Baltimore, MD.

Rev. Carter is a powerful, spirit-filled prayer warrior and loves to preach God’s Word. Her prayer ministry is evidenced on The Fervent Prayer Line, a weekly 15 minute prayer call, where she intercede son the behalf of callers. Additionally, the weekly call has led to a twice monthly all women’s 30 minute call.

Rev. Monique, as she is familiarly called, leads the Women’s Ministry and the Ministers Wives and Widows, at New Shiloh. Her heart for mentoring youth & young adults has been demonstrated, especially for young women, for the past two decades, in the establishment of a Debutante Program, training them with their Christian walk. The 13 week program has not only served young women in the church but it has, also, included young women from Frederick Douglass High School, in the past.

Also, it is because of her visionary leadership that a local elementary school, Robert W Coleman, has been adopted. For more than 10 years, students have annually received coats, boots and tennis shoes(to homeless children), seasonal toys, and school supplies, among other acts of mission. These free items for students are made mostly possible by “Christmas at Motown,” a holiday review show and fundraiser, held at New Shiloh. Of special note, she led an effort in painting, and essentially beautifying, the elementary school’s cafeteria and hallways, with the help of young adults and Men’s Ministry volunteers from the church.

Rev. Monique has conducted workshops, seminars and religious programs throughout the country. Educated in the catholic schools of Baltimore, she graduated from Archbishop Keough High School.  Her higher education includes an Associate Degree from the Catonsville Community College, and extended studies at Coppin State University.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.  In May 2011 she graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster, PA.

Gifted with her hands, Rev. Carter is an entrepreneur and has owned and operated two businesses.  As a licensed cosmetologist, she was the first African-American female to own and operate a business (salon)in the city of Colonial Heights, Virginia. She is the wife of Rev. Dr. Harold A. Carter, Jr., pastor of New Shiloh Baptist Church. Over the past thirty eight years they have ministered at Zion Baptist Church, Reading, Pennsylvania; First Baptist Church, Petersburg, Virginia; and, currently, New Shiloh Baptist Church, Baltimore, Maryland, for over 25 years. She has accompanied her husband to Trinidad and Tobago, London, India, Nassau and Brazil doing ministry and outreach work for the Lord.

Rev. Monique Carter, is a dedicated disciple committed to serving the Lord in season and out of season. She is the mother of two sons, Rev Daniel N Carter and Mr. Timothy A Carter.
